Prime Minister Robert Golob asserted that it is the responsibility of politicians to take the lead in rejecting hate speech

Prime Minister Robert Golob actively participated in the 10th meeting of the Strategic Council for the Prevention of Hate Speech today.
During the session, the council members presented and submitted their comprehensive recommendations to Prime Minister Golob, focusing on various key areas essential for combating hate speech. These recommendations covered education and youth, prevention strategies, legal responses, media, and the Internet.
The Strategic Council ensured its effectiveness by engaging with multiple stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, experts, and other groups. National and international experts who dedicate their efforts to building a more inclusive and accepting society shared their valuable insights in each council meeting. Moreover, state institutions like the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office and independent state bodies like the Human Rights Ombudsman also contributed their perspectives to the council's discussions.
In expressing his gratitude to all participants, Prime Minister Golob acknowledged the remarkable collaboration of over 40 experts, representatives from civil society, ministries, and various institutions. He emphasized the importance of respectful and democratic dialogue in addressing this critical issue and underscored the responsibility of politicians to lead by example in rejecting hate speech.
The Strategic Council for the Prevention of Hate Speech, an independent advisory body to Prime Minister Robert Golob, was established in response to the escalating issues of intolerance, hate speech, and inequality in recent years. Its primary objective is to propose systemic measures for combating hate speech and promoting a culture of tolerance, dialogue, and solidarity. Recognizing the harmful impact of hate speech on fundamental human rights, the council's efforts are crucial in safeguarding dignity, equality, and non-discrimination.
