Prime Minister's Visit to the Ministry of Defence: Recognizing the Slovenian Armed Forces and Civil Engagement

Prime Minister Dr. Robert Golob paid a visit to the Ministry of Defence, where he received a warm welcome with military honors.
Accompanied by Minister Marjan Šarec, the Prime Minister familiarized himself with the Ministry's key objectives and plans. He also had the opportunity to tour the National Centre for Crisis Management and deliver a speech to the members of the Slovenian Armed Forces regarding their international operations and missions.
During a video conference call with Slovenian Army contingent leaders, Dr. Golob expressed his gratitude and pride in the troops' unwavering dedication and commendable performance. He personally thanked them and conveyed the country's appreciation for their service. The contingent leaders provided the Prime Minister with an overview of their work, tasks, and the security situations in the countries where they were deployed.
Following the visit, the Prime Minister emphasized the dual role of the Slovenian Army. On one hand, it serves to strengthen the nation's defense capabilities, and on the other hand, it acts as an invaluable partner in civil engagement. Dr. Golob recalled instances where the army's assistance was crucial, such as the removal of the barbed wire fence along the Croatian border, firefighting efforts in the Karst region, providing drinking water to Slovenian Istria, and responding to recent floods and landslides.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted the effectiveness of the disaster relief system, lauding it as one of the best in Europe and the world. He mentioned that within a mere fourteen days after the occurrence of floods and landslides, the government successfully facilitated the reimbursement of intervention costs to affected municipalities, setting a remarkable precedent for immediate financing through efficient reorganization.
Dr. Golob commended the excellent condition of the Slovenian Army and emphasized that its members possess reliable and suitable armament. In future decisions regarding the acquisition of military equipment, the firsthand experiences of soldiers on the ground will be accorded the highest priority.
Taking all of this into account, the Prime Minister concluded that the government's performance in relation to the Ministry of Defence has been highly commendable, demonstrating significant achievements and positive results.
